These provide a flow of information from health and safety authorities in New Zealand and Australia, with details of recent incidents provided to alert other industry operators to hazards and unsafe practices.

Superintendent

Electrical and Mechanical Superintendents remain a requirement in mines of any scale. We can’t remember the last time they were offered a chance to engage at a workshop, so we are bringing one together in November.

At this stage, we’d like expressions of interest if you think you might like to attend. Please email office@minex.org.nz

Worksafe training workshop in Dunedin

worksafe

Dunedin

Thursday 27 September

After a successful forum in Palmerston North earlier this year on training, WorkSafe is bringing together a workshop in Dunedin on Thursday September 27 for those interested in lifting the outcomes from the training we provide as an industry.

There will be the same range of speakers discussing the variability and quality of training across New Zealand. These include IOQ Australia CEO Paul Sutton who will again provide some strong messages to companies that they need to take a hands-on role in selecting trainers and ensuring the courses they provide give value-for-money and on-going benefit; no more tick and flick courses.

Another highlight speaker from Palmerston North who will be at the Dunedin workshop is Keri Harrison who’s provided mentoring and support to get her own company’s (and several others) CoC candidates through their oral exams.

As MinEx CEO, I’ll help wrap up the day along with WorkSafe Chief Inspector Paul Hunt.

The workshop will earn you 6 hours formal CPD. You can register for the WorkSafe workshop here.
